Most Smartphones across the world runs on Android. So, it is very safe to say that it is the most popular smartphone operating system around. Android is based on Linux kernel and other source software designed majorly for touchscreens.
There have been various versions of Android released in a while. The most recently released is the Google Android 11 which was launched with several system improvements and features. It was officially released in September 2020 as the eleventh major version of the Android OS.

The Beta release will come after the Developer Previews and it is expected either in May or June this year. Also, the stable version rollout could be in July-August.
