After going through all of these, you might decide to want to give your old smartphone out as an exchange, or dashing it out to a friend or relative. In this case, it is important to consider formatting the device.

Sometimes, you might experience issues operating your device and you just want it new.  If you consider resetting your smartphone in this case, it will restore all settings to default and wipe all personal information away, leaving the phone blank and new.

The reset or erase option can be found under settings for most Android devices.

  1. Launch the Android Settings app and go to System.
  2. Find and select the Reset option and further select the Erase all data (factory reset) option. The information related to data that will be erased is displayed.
  3. Tap Erase all data and confirm your pattern, PIN or passcode to authenticate the process.
  4. Finally, read the warning displayed on the screen and tap the Erase all data option if you still want to continue.

  1. Go to the Settings app and choose the Accounts and backup option.
  2. Next, select Manage accounts and find your Samsung account from the list.
  3. Tap the entry and choose Remove account.
  4. Further, proceed to the main Settings menu and tap on the General management option.
  5. Scroll downwards to find the Reset option. Tap Reset, then Factory data reset. The information related to data that will be erased will be displayed.
  6. Next, tap the Reset button and confirm your pattern, PIN or passcode to authenticate the process.
  7. Finally, tap Delete all and the wiping process will start.

It is required that you have at least 30% battery on your phone before a factory reset can be initiated on most Android devices. To initiate a factory reset, you can simply search reset or erase it on the Settings app.
