Two ESPN channels added to DStv in Africa, viewing starts today

Sports fans subscribed to MultiChoice's DStv in Africa will now have access to two newly added ESPN channels starting today due to a deal made earlier on Monday by the Walt Disney Company Africa and MultiChoice Group.

The channels will feature all types of sports in the US coupled with European football matches.  To clarify, viewers will watch matches from the premier American leagues, to include the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL), and Major League Baseball (MLB), on the newly added sports channels.

Also, football matches from the English Football League (EFL), Scottish Premier Football League (SPFL), Dutch Eredivisie and Major League Soccer (MLS), and local sports like the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations and boxing tournaments and events will feature on both channels – ESPN and ESPN2, taking channel numbers 218 and 219 respectively on DStv.

The announcement which was released in a statement made by Christine Service, the Senior Vice President and Country Manager of The Walt Disney Company Africa says;

“From reliving the greatest moments in sports history to seeing those moments being made, ESPN's compelling content and unique personality will be a complementary addition to MultiChoice Group's sports offering,”

“We are thrilled to be bringing the achievements and triumphs of both international and local athletes, our quality storytelling and innovative programming to a whole new audience of sports fans in Africa.”

Other than live sports programs, the viewing will be complemented latest films, series, news, talk shows and highlights from ESPN's iconic sports documentary and studio program for DStv subscribers.
